Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
The next regular meeting of the Electrical Welfare Club will be held on Tuesday October 21st, 2014 in the Balcony Lounge of the JIB Auditorium at 5PM. Food and beverage will be served at that time. At this month’s meeting we will start off the process for our Election of Officers and Board Members of the club by selecting an Election Committee and accepting first nominations. Our Business Representative Elliot Hecht will be on hand to provide us with details of the new developments within our industry. Questions will be welcomed.
“Thank you” to Safety Director, Robert McCormick for taking the time out of his busy schedule to address our club at last month’s meeting and for being so informative.
On October 26th, 2014 the EWC will be hosting our 52nd Annual Award & Scholarship Breakfast. This year’s honoree will be Charles Ellis Schumer, Senior United States Senator from New York. We will also be honoring EWC member, Arthur Amerman with the 2014 club service award. Please join us as we celebrate 52 years of Electrical Welfare Club Breakfasts and award our annual scholarship recipients. Your immediate response is necessary, so join us in making this event a huge success. I’m looking forward to seeing all of our members at this event.
This year the EWC is having our 2nd Annual Raffle fundraiser. Each raffle is $10 and has a 3 digit number. These numbers will coincide with the Evening Win 3 Lottery numbers for New York State for the month of November. If your ticket wins you will win $100. The same ticket can win more than once. As you know Election Day is right around the corner, Tuesday November 4th, 2014. Our club has been asked to assist Local 3 to “Get out the vote” with phone banks from now until Election Day. Phone banks are taking place at the JIB 5th floor Monday – Thursday from 6pm – 8:30pm. Please find the time in you busy schedule to support these efforts, it is important to help labor’s candidates get elected. Most importantly remember to vote on Election Day and vote your job!
The EWC will hold our Annual Hanukah party December 21st, 2014. Party Chairman Michael Fichtenbaum will speak about the party at our upcoming meeting. Please be in attendance to sign up and give your children’s or grandchildren’s name and ages at the meeting. (See enclosed flier)
