Happy New Year Everyone and with that brings my last message as Club President
Nearly four years ago, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, on a Zoom Club Meeting, I took the oath of office, administered by our Business Manager, Christopher Erikson. It was an honor and a privilege that I will never forget. It was also a responsibility that I did not take lightly. I worked very hard as your Club President and did my best to make the Electrical Welfare Club shine bright within our industry and beyond. I represented our Club at as many functions and events as I could. This was something that I felt was very important to do. This was something that I tried the stress to every member of our Club. We must be involved. Jewish members of our Local must have a strong presence in our Local. This is Very Important. It was 102 years ago when 9 Jewish men got together, after Sabbath, to form this Club to have a voice within our Local. I am thankful for the opportunity to have served this membership as your President, and I will continue to help our Club in my new role as an Advisor. I want to thank all the Officers and Board of Directors who served with me during the last 4 years, especially my Vice President Gary Marks and our Financial Secretary Eric A. Farbman who both helped me very much. I want to thank our Club Coordinator David Hochman. I want to congratulate our New President- Elect Matthew Cohen and Vice President Joseph Jaffe and all the new Officers and Board of Directors and wish them all the very best. I thank all the members for stepping up to help. Please help our new slate with whatever they need to make our Club a success and an important and visible part of our Union.
Our Hanukkah Party was a great time. I want to thank everyone who came early to volunteer with the set-up and giftwrapping, the kitchen committee with the cooking, the arts and crafts and everything else. The magician put on a very entertaining show and the children had a lot of fun.
This year is a Contract Year, and a Negotiating Committee has been selected. If you have any ideas for the upcoming contract, please send in your letters. You must include your name and Union Card # for consideration. You can mail your letters to 158-11 Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Avenue Flushing, NY 11365 Attn: Negotiating Committee or email them to: Negotiations@local3ibew.org
I look forward to seeing everyone at our Next Meeting, Tuesday, January 21st.
Stay active; support our Club and its great parent organization Local Union No.3 IBEW
Fraternally yours,
Marc Deutscher
President, Electrical Welfare Club
