President’s Message March 2024

March 2024

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,

The next regular General Membership Meeting of the Electrical Welfare Club will be held on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, in the Balcony Lounge at 5 PM. Food and beverages will be served at that time. The meeting will begin at 5:45 PM

You must enter through the main entrance of the Electric Industry Center at 158-11 Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Ave.

Our guest speaker will be Business Representative Pete Papadatos so please try to join us.  Our Club Coordinator, Local Union No. 3 IBEW Executive Board Member, David Hochman, will provide details of new developments within the industry. Questions will be welcomed.

I want to thank those of you who attended the Street naming for the late Assemblyman and Resident of Electchester, Michael Simanowitz. It was a wonderful tribute and honor to a dear friend of the EWC and Local Union No. 3 IBEW. On Sunday, April 14th, there will be another Street naming, this time for another dear friend and even more long-time resident of Electchester, the late Assemblywoman Nettie Mayersohn. This event will be held in Electchester near Harry’s Rock.

Our Pre-Passover Seder will be held on Tuesday, April 16th at the Plainview Jewish Center, 95 Floral Drive W. @ 6 PM. Please see our Flyer for more information.

Our Club Weekend out at the Long Island Education Center (Santorini) will be Friday September 13 – Sunday September 15. Our Club has only 19 rooms so please let us know ASAP if you are interested in joining us.

Club Dues for 2024 are Due. The Annual Dues are $40 and can be paid by check, money order or cash and can be paid in person at our meeting on Tuesday, March 19th or they can be mailed to our Treasurer Paul Portnoy directly.  See our Newsletter for his address.  It is so very important that everyone continues to support our Club with the payment of your annual Club Dues.

Over 150 days since the horrific attack on the people of Israel and those visiting at a music festival and over 130 hostages still being held by terrorists.  Let us continue to pray for their release and for the people of Israel and for peace in the region.

I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting in the Balcony Lounge on Tuesday, March 19th.

Stay active; support our Club and its great parent organization Local Union No.3 IBEW

Fraternally yours,

Marc Deutscher

President, Electrical Welfare Club
