President’s Message May 2022

Greeting Sisters and Brothers,

The next regular General Membership Meeting of the Electrical Welfare Club will be held on Tuesday May 17th, 2022, in the Balcony Lounge at 5 PM. Food and beverages will be served at that time.

You must enter through the main entrance of the Electric Industry Center at 158-11 Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Ave.  You will be asked to show proof of vaccination information and your photo ID.

Business Representative James Bua will be our guest speaker and I look forward to hearing his report on the Borough of Queens and all the other responsibilities that he handles. Our Club Coordinator, Former Assistant Business Manager, Elliot Hecht will provide details of new developments within the industry. Questions will be welcomed.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Passover and you are enjoying Spring.  I want to congratulate and thank the ‘A’ Negotiating Team for the new contract and all the hard work and time they put in on behalf of the membership. I want to also thank Business Manager Christopher Erikson,
President Tom Cleary, and everyone else who had a part in the collective bargaining process.

The EWC Weekend out at the LIECC (Santorini) is Friday May 20 – Sunday May 22. We will be going out as a Club for the weekend, and I look forward to enjoying the time we spend together at our home away from home. This year’s Critical Thinking Seminar will be on the History of Local Union No. 3 IBEW.  It should be very interesting. There may be a limited number of rooms still available so if you are interested in attending, please let me know ASAP.

Local Union No. 3 IBEW has endorsed Congressman Tom Suozzi for the Democratic nomination for Governor of New York. We as a Club have been asked to show up and support his candidacy.  Please step up and do your part if you are asked.

Club Dues are due.  As you know we need your Dues to support all the EWC yearly activities. Regular member Dues are $40. Cemetery Members are $18 per person in a separate check made out to EWC Cemetery Fund.

If you have made any changes to your home address, home phone number, cell phone number and or your email address please let us know.  It is so important to let us know of these changes. You can contact Corresponding Secretary Michelle Sirotic at mlsirotic1019@gmail.com or mail her your changes.

Please make sure that you are signed up for the Local 3 Rank and File Newsletter. Our Business Manager gives an excellent and informative message every month.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting, Tuesday May 17th.

Stay active; support our club and its great parent organization Local Union No.3 IBEW

Fraternally yours,

Marc Deutscher
